Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has indicated that she is prepared to stand aside should Anwar Ibrahim decide to contest the Parti Keadilan Rakyat Presidency in the upcoming party elections.
We salute and thank Wan Azizah for her willingness to do so. We thank her for her selflessness and for her always putting the interests of the country as well as the party before her own.
Wan Azizah has made history, not only as the country’s first female Deputy Prime Minister but also for a trail-blazer for Malaysian women in politics.
Moving forward, I sincerely hope that Anwar will contest the KEADILAN Presidency.
This will give our party members, supporters, our friends in Pakatan Harapan and indeed, all our fellow citizens’ certainty as the New Malaysia is being built.
I strongly believe that Anwar will be able to bring Malaysia and the party to greater heights.
When he takes the Presidency, he will find himself supported by a young, dynamic and diverse team that is willing and able to serve the country.
20 years after the beginning of the Reformasi, KEADILAN with its 2018 party polls has a remarkable, historic opportunity to continue to champion the cause of justice and progress as the most successful progressive, multiracial party in Malaysia.
