Acceptance On Being Nominated For P118 Setiawangsa

As has been announced by Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, I have been nominated by KEADILAN and Pakatan Harapan to run for the Setiawangsa parliamentary constituency in Kuala Lumpur.

I accept this nomination with gratitude and humility. I thank the leadership of KEADILAN and Pakatan Harapan, including at the national and local levels, both grassroots and leaders, for the trust placed in me.

I pledge that I will do my utmost to be worthy the confidence that has been given to me, to prove myself equal to the weighty task at hand.

I also want to thank the people of my former constituency, Seri Setia in the great state of Selangor, for entrusting me to be their voice in the State Assembly for two terms.

It is not easy to leave a place that I have come to have a deep and abiding affection before—which began even before I entered politics. But I leave knowing that Seri Setia is a better place thanks to the achievements of the Pakatan governments since 2008.

To the voters of Setiawangsa, our place is a lively and diverse place. But I believe that it can be a better place to live and raise a family.

I look forward to hearing your ideas about how we can make our constituency—as well as Kuala Lumpur, our city and Malaysia’s capital—a place we can all be proud of.

In addition, Malaysia is facing crucial choices about its future—between a failed status quo under Najib Razak and Barisan Nasional and a future that can move our country and people forward led by Pakatan Harapan.

Barisan Nasional has never lost Setiawangsa. But I believe that to change the Federal Government, we need to win marginal seats such as Setiawangsa and I offer myself for this task.

A better Setiawangsa and a fairer, more prosperous Malaysia that we can be proud of again is possible—if we want it. I look forward meeting you all on the campaign period and—God willing—serving you all in the next Parliament under the Pakatan Harapan administration.
