The recent storming of the Penang State Assembly, DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur and DAP office in Kuantan is ample proof that the UMNO Youth wing is little more than a gang of organised thugs.
This is a body which seems to think that it is a law unto itself and whose only means of settling disputes seems to be threats and violence.
Even if the DAP politician in question’s remarks were uncalled for, these so-called champions of the Malay race and culture should not have resorted to such rowdy behaviour.
Its leader, the so-called reformer and moderate Khairy Jamaluddin’s statement rings hollow in light of his membersäó» uncivilised behavior. He clearly has no control over the wing. Having fanned racial and religious bigotry, UMNO now witnesses the Frankenstein that it has created.
At the same time, the lack of action against the UMNO Youth sits strangely with the Federal Government’s enthusiastic prosecution and indeed, persecution of peaceful rallies for electoral and political reform.
There seems to be no end to the hypocrisy and mendacity of this UMNO-BN government.
